Cielo Hammocks
Cielo Hammocks is a locally owned hammock business in Merida, Mexico owned by Josefina and Constantino Urzaiz. The hammocks are made by predominantly women in the Mayan villages that surround Merida. It is hot year round and as a result they do not need beds, they sleep in hammocks instead. This craft has been past down through generations. Cielo Hammocks have made it possible for these women to work at home, take care of their children, and continue their craft while bringing in an income. Hammocks made in this community are sold and enjoyed all around the world.
